2003 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L Engine 1899 Park/Neutral Sensor Fault After Starter Replacement
Hello everyone, I'm experiencing the 1899 park/neutral fault code on my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 3.3L engine. This issue appeared after I replaced the starter myself. The replacement was done during a very cold day (16°F), and I admit I got a bit rushed—my hands were shaking, and I may have mishandled the wiring connections. My main question is: which sensor triggers the 1899 code? I suspect it's the gear position sensor located just below the two transmission cooler lines. When my friend tapped this sensor while the engine was running, the check light started blinking, and the gear indicator shifted from a single box around the 'P' for park to showing a box on every gear—effectively making it behave as if the vehicle had been manually shifted. Additionally, I'm wondering: does the gear position sensor clip typically have one or two wires connected to it? The one on my van appears to have only one wire, and that's what's confusing me. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help—this is a bit of a head-scratcher with no clear troubleshooting guide available online.
