P0300 Misfire Diagnosis - 2003 Chevy Trailblazer 4.2L with AC Delco Components
I've been troubleshooting a persistent misfire issue on my 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer with the 4.2L engine. After extensive research, I've ruled out common causes such as faulty throttle bodies, spark plugs, and ignition coils—all of which have already been replaced. The vehicle still exhibits intermittent misfiring symptoms despite these replacements. I'm currently seeing a P0300 code (random/multiple cylinder misfire), along with past occurrences of P0440 and U1000 codes. While the engine doesn't lose power under load, the idle is noticeably rough and I can hear a low-frequency 'bass-like' sound coming from the exhaust. The check engine light has come on and off intermittently over the past few weeks. Recently, a new P0340 code appeared, prompting me to replace the Cam Position Sensor (CMP). Despite these efforts, the issue persists. I'm seeking input on potential root causes specific to this 4.2L engine platform.
Please share all relevant diagnostic trouble codes and describe the exact symptoms—such as rough idle, hesitation, or misfire under load. Are all replacement parts AC Delco? This helps narrow down compatibility issues.
