2002 Corvette Z06 C1214 Fault Code: ABS or Traction Control Solenoid Issue?

Model: 2002 ZO6 Corvette Fault Code: C1214 Posted: 2016-08-28 20:47

The driver information display indicates a check for ABS and traction control. The only fault code appearing is C1214, which corresponds to 'Solenoid valve relay contact or coil circuit open'. What specific solenoid or coil circuit should be inspected in this scenario? The vehicle is a 2002 Z06 Corvette (C1214 model), and the issue appears only when traction control or ABS systems are disabled, though no other diagnostic codes are present.

Are there any additional fault codes or symptoms? The DTC C1214 is triggered under conditions where system voltage drops below 8 volts for 0.23 seconds—could this indicate a dead battery, charging problem, or loose cable connections? Also, check the underhood fuse box: ABS fuse #52 (40 amps). If no power supply issue is found, this may not be a DIY-friendly fix.

I don’t drive this vehicle daily; it has sat for three to four days. It cranks and starts fine when needed. The driver information center (DIC) shows ABS and traction control warnings as described. While driving, I feel a bit cautious—especially if the wife wants to take it on highways with high power output (405 horsepower). I’ll inspect battery connections first. Also noticed that door lock functions are failing on either door or key fob; unlock works normally.

Assuming the vehicle is stock and has no aftermarket modifications—such as remote starters, ECU chips, GPS devices, or other modules plugged into the ALDL (Automotive Local Data Link). These could interfere with ABS/traction control system diagnostics and potentially trigger false or incomplete fault codes like C1214.
