P0600 and P0702 2002 Mercedes C320
First time posting and need some help, please. I think I know something about these codes, but I have been unable to work through the problem to-date. Situation... Intermittent starting (turn to start, no action; repeat several times before the starter turned over to start.) transmission lever not coming out of park after start. (repeated the start, off, start steps again until the lever moved to D or R). towed car to dealer and stayed there 2 months... cma eback with "cannot duplicate problem"! Started car one time, drove less than a mile in limp mode, returned home, turned engine off and it has not started nor has it shifted without manual over ride since) OBD codeP0600 indicates serial communication link problem. A web search indicated a possible transmission harness connector problem. I changed the electrical connector on the transmission, but the starter will still not engage. OBD code P0702 indicates a transmission control module. I have not checked to see if the tranny oil has wicked to the TCM yet, but hope to do so today. MY QUESTION... will the TCM module keep the starter from engaging??? I have checked the starter relay and the stop/brake switch. They both appear to be good. I can hear the click to the injectors, but no starter engagment. Thanks for any help that is given.
