2002 Lincoln Blackwood P0354 P0355 P03-56 P0358 Coil Circuit Faults - Stalling & Theft Light Issues

Model: 2002 Lincoln Blackwood Fault Code: P0354 Posted: 2015-11-20 22:56

My 2002 Lincoln Blackwood with a 5.4L engine is experiencing stalling and hesitation during acceleration, along with the theft light flashing erratically while driving. The onboard diagnostic system shows four coil-related fault codes: P0354, P0355, P0356, and P0358. All of these are primary/secondary coil circuit faults. I'm wondering if it's reasonable to conclude that since all four codes are present, the issue could be either a wiring fault to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or a failure in the PCM itself. Any insight into how to diagnose this effectively would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible — you'll need to perform thorough diagnostics. Start with basic checks: voltage, pulsing signals, and resistance measurements on the coils. A simple test is whether the spark plugs are actually firing. Vehicle history may also provide clues — has there been any recent work or modifications? Any added parts or wiring? Also, note that the theft light might not always be readable by your scanner; some codes are manufacturer-specific (B-series) and may require a compatible tool to retrieve fully.
