2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L Ignition System Fault: P0351-P0353 Misfires and Starting Issues After Crankshaft Position Sensor Replacement
Hello, My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't start recently — it cranks but shows no ignition. The fuel rail is pressurized, and a crankshaft position sensor (CPS) fault code appeared. I replaced the CPS, and the vehicle started immediately. However, it now exhibits misfires on all cylinders (P0300-P0306) along with coil bank faults (P0351-P0353). The car starts, idles briefly, then stalls repeatedly — unable to drive safely. I've already replaced the spark plugs, which appear in good condition. I also swapped out the ignition relay with a known-good unit, but the issue persists. No other error codes have appeared since the CPS replacement. Could this be related to an electrical fault in the coil bank circuits or a defective aftermarket sensor? Any insights on diagnosing P0351-P0353 and intermittent stalling? Thanks for any help!
Check the coil bank circuits — common causes of P0351 include: short to voltage or ground in the COP driver circuit, open circuit in the COP driver, loose connection at the coil or broken connector locks, faulty coil (COP), or a malfunctioning Powertrain Control Module. For detailed troubleshooting, refer to official diagnostic resources for P0351.
