2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7L V8 - P0356 Fault Diagnosis and Repair Guide
I'm experiencing a P0356 diagnostic code on my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 4.7L V8 engine. I've already replaced the ignition coils and spark plugs, and all fuses appear to be functioning properly. Despite these efforts, the P0356 code persists. What could be causing this issue, and what steps should I take to accurately diagnose and fix it?
P0356 - IGNITION COIL #6 PRIMARY CIRCUIT FAILURE Try swapping the ignition coil from cylinder #6 with a known good coil from another cylinder to see if the code moves. This helps determine whether the issue is with the specific coil or another component. Inspect the connector on the coil's wiring harness while the engine is off (KOEO condition). Both wires should show 12V when properly connected. Gently wiggle the connector to check for loose connections, corrosion, or damaged wiring in the first few inches near the coil. Did you use OEM Jeep parts or aftermarket components? The quality of parts can significantly impact performance and code accuracy. Also, which type of spark plugs did you install? Using non-OEM or low-quality plugs may contribute to misfires.
