2002 Ford F-250 P0353 Fault: Misfire in Cylinder 3 - Diagnosis and Fixes

Model: 2002 ford f250 Fault Code: P0353 Posted: 2015-08-22 20:48

I own a 2002 Ford F-250 and am consistently encountering the P0353 diagnostic trouble code. Despite replacing the spark plugs and coil-over (coil pack), the engine still exhibits a misfire, particularly at low RPMs—this issue becomes less noticeable at higher speeds. I recently replaced the fuel injector on cylinder 3 to rule it out, but the problem persists. The engine's knock sensor is confirmed functional as it can be triggered while running. Given that the misfire occurs specifically in cylinder 3 and only under light load conditions, I'm wondering whether I should next inspect the spark plug wire or ignition coil connector for proper voltage and continuity. Are there known issues with the electrical connections on the ignition coils in this model year? Any advice on troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

Please specify which engine variant you have (e.g., 6.0L V8), as cylinder numbering can vary by engine type. Additionally, check the electrical connector on the ignition coil for corrosion or loose connections—these are common causes of P0353 in 2002 Ford F-250 models.
