2002 Ford F-150 P1451 Fault: Canister Vent Valve Solenoid Issue or Gas Moisture?

Model: 2002 Ford F-150 Fault Code: P1451 Posted: 2016-08-18 19:50

My 2002 Ford F-150 recently triggered code P1451 after refueling last night. This morning, the vehicle began running roughly with noticeable sputtering during acceleration. I'm wondering whether this could be caused by a faulty canister vent valve solenoid, or if it might instead be due to moisture in the fuel or a clogged fuel filter. Since no fault codes appeared before refueling, I suspect the issue may be directly related to the fuel system or evaporative emissions components.

Since there was no code prior to refueling, start by checking for a 12V supply at the vent valve circuit with the key off (KOEO). Also carefully open the gas cap—listen for a vacuum rush. A sudden airflow sound may indicate a loose or faulty vent valve, which could be linked to P145或 a malfunctioning canister vent valve solenoid.
