Start by checking the compression in cylinder 4. If compression is normal, proceed to inspect spark plug condition and fuel injector pulse. Given the presence of both P0171 and P0316 codes, a vacuum leak at the intake manifold or PCV hose should also be ruled out as a potential cause.
