2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L - P0320 Code After Replacing Crankshaft and Camshaft Position Sensors
I own a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7L engine. Recently, the vehicle died unexpectedly and I scanned it and found fault code P0320 (Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction). I replaced both the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor, but the engine still will not start — it only turns over without firing. There was a noticeable clank or pop coming from the bottom of the vehicle when it died, and upon inspection, I noticed a dent in the original crankshaft position sensor. I am now wondering if the issue might be related to sensor installation, interference, or damage despite replacement.
Is the engine failing to crank (starter not engaging) or simply not starting after cranking? When turning the key, does the engine spin and attempt to start, or is there no movement at all? Have you installed any aftermarket components such as a remote starter or alarm system? Any recent modifications or repairs related to the engine or electrical systems?
