I recently replaced the camshaft sensor in my 2002 Dodge Dakota with a 4.7-liter engine, but the same fault code P0340 (Cam Shaft Sensor Circuit) continues to appear. Despite no other obvious issues, the vehicle now fails to start and will not crank properly. I've checked all connections and wiring, but the problem persists. Any insights or troubleshooting steps for this specific model and code would be greatly appreciated.

I experienced the same issue; the original replacement sensor was defective. After installing a genuine OEM camshaft sensor, the P0340 code disappeared and the vehicle started normally.
