Driver Airbag SQUIB 1 Circuit Open - Fix for 2002 Dodge Dakota SRS Fault

Model: 2002 Dodge Dakota Fault Code: C1200 Posted: 2016-12-30 07:44

I own a 2002 Dodge Dakota and recently had it diagnosed at a repair shop. They identified a fault code: DRIVER SQUIB 1 CIRCUIT OPEN, but did not provide the exact trouble code number. The issue is related to the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), specifically the driver-side airbag squib circuit. The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) monitors the resistance in the Driver Squib 1 circuit when the ignition is on. A detected open or high-resistance condition triggers this fault, which may result in the airbag warning light illuminating on the dashboard. I'm looking for guidance on how to diagnose and fix this issue without professional help. Can anyone confirm if this is a common problem with 2002 Dodge Dakotas? What steps should I take next?

Sorry, the SRS system (Supplemental Restraint System) is not recommended for DIY repairs due to high electrical complexity and safety risks. Quick question: Does cruise control function normally? Without a proper scan tool, diagnosis can only be approximate. Trouble Code: B1B02 - DRIVER AIRBAG SQUIB 1 CIRCUS OPEN When the ignition is on, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) monitors the resistance of the Driver Squib 1 circuit. A detected open or high-resistance condition indicates a failure in that circuit, which may prevent proper deployment of the driver-side airbag during a collision.
