2002 Chevy Silverado B0090 Airbag Light On After Instrument Cluster Replacement

Model: 2002 Chevy Silverado Fault Code: B0090 Posted: 2017-04-23 12:16

I own a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and recently removed the instrument cluster to replace a turn signal lamp. Since then, the airbag warning light has remained on. I've tried using a scan tool to clear the code B0090, but it won't reset it. What steps should I take to resolve this issue? Is there a specific procedure for resetting the SRS system after instrument cluster removal?

I removed the instrument cluster to replace the turn signal lamp and now the airbag light is on. My scan tool won't allow me to clear code B0090. Any advice or solutions for this common issue after cluster removal?

The scan tool used to read the code is the same one being used to attempt clearing it. FYI: The DTC will clear after 255 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles. If you don't have an ABS-capable scanner, waiting that long may not be practical. I suspect the SRS system was not disabled before opening the instrument cluster, and there could be a fault with the IP (instrument panel) switch. This issue typically requires a dedicated SRS diagnostic tool and a proper trouble-shooting procedure.
