2002 Chevy Astro V6 4.3L with P0101 and P0106 Fault - MAF and MAP Sensor Issues

I own a 2002 Chevrolet Astro Van equipped with the 4.3L V6 engine. Yesterday, it began running poorly and I barely managed to drive it home. The vehicle starts fine and idles reasonably well most of the time, but when attempting to accelerate, it stalls abruptly—similar to vapor lock symptoms from older vehicles. My OBD2 scanner detected fault codes P0101 (Mass Airflow Sensor Range/Performance Problem) and P0106 (Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Range/Performance Issue), which are related to the MAF and MAP sensors. I replaced both the MAF and MAP sensors, but the problem persists. The sensor connectors show approximately 5 volts with the key on, which is within expected range. Despite these replacements, the vehicle performance remains severely degraded. I am now concerned about unnecessary part purchases and would appreciate any accurate diagnosis or troubleshooting steps. Thanks for your help.

The exhaust system could be clogged—this is a common cause of poor acceleration and stalling in older vans like the Astro. A blocked exhaust can mimic sensor-related symptoms, especially under load.

I considered the exhaust blockage theory, but I'm not able to test airflow during acceleration due to the vehicle's poor response. The issue seems to worsen over time. I don't believe removing the exhaust system is practical. I've read on this forum that someone successfully removed an oxygen sensor to check for a clogged catalytic converter—this might be a viable diagnostic step.

I tried removing one of the oxygen sensors as suggested, and after doing so, the vehicle ran significantly better. This confirms that the catalytic converter was likely blocked, which is causing the symptoms. Thanks for pointing that out—it was a helpful insight!
