2002 Chevrolet Silverado 4.3L P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor Issue: Code Returns After Replacement
I own a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado with a 4.3L engine and currently have 120,000 miles on it. The vehicle has been exhibiting misfiring symptoms specifically in 4th and 5th gears. I recently diagnosed a P0341 camshaft position sensor fault code. I replaced the camshaft position sensor located inside the distributor, beneath the cap and rotor. After the replacement, the misfiring issue was resolved. However, the SES light remains on and the P0341 code reappears consistently. I attempted to clear the code using a programmer, but it returns shortly after. Even after disconnecting the battery for a full reset, the code comes back. My question is: why does the P0341 code persist even after replacing the sensor? Is there another underlying issue or could the sensor be faulty despite proper installation? Thanks, Jason
Could the distributor be out of time? This might cause a false P0341 reading even after replacing the sensor. It's worth checking engine timing and ensuring proper alignment during installation.
