2002 Chrysler 300M P0452 Code: Fuel Fill Issue and EVAP System Diagnosis

Model: 2002 300M Fault Code: P0452 Posted: 2015-08-30 10:18

Hello everyone, I'm having a issue with my 2002 Chrysler 300M. The car won't accept fuel from gas pumps at service stations—only works when I manually pour gasoline using a gas can. I've also been getting diagnostic code P0452, which points to an EVAP (Evaporative Emission Control) system issue. Has anyone experienced this exact problem? What are the common fixes or troubleshooting steps for this code on a 2002 300M? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

The P0452 code combined with difficulty filling up at pumps strongly suggests an issue in the EVAP system, particularly the vent valve. A stuck or malfunctioning vent valve can block airflow and prevent proper fuel fill operation. It's worth checking that component first.

Thanks for the insight! I've tested at several stations—older pumps with smaller nozzles worked fine, but newer ones have larger nozzles that restrict air release during fueling. This confirms the vent valve is likely the culprit. I'll replace it soon and avoid assuming a tank pressure sensor issue unless other signs appear. Appreciate your help!
