I got the code p0336 in my '02 3.4 Imapala NOT 3.8 which means I got 2 CKPs I dont know which one is bad. Problems are that my car wont start if i dont disconnect the battery for at least 30 minutes.

Potential causes of a P0336 code include: Bad crank sensor Broken reluctor ring (missing teeth, debris lodged in ring) Reluctor ring dislodged/stripped from it's stationary location Wiring harness chafing causing short Wiring open in CKP circuit Read more: p0336 One crank sensor is called the 3X (or 7X) crank sensor and this bad boy is: Located on the side of the engine block facing the firewall (passenger compartment). This crank sensor is a 2 wire type and produces an AC voltage signal. The signal that the 3X (7X) crank sensor produces goes directly to the ignition control module and is critical for it to start activating spark and fuel injection.

Has 7x vrs and 24x hall effect. 24x used for misfire monitoring obd2.... Goes to pcm. 7x goes to ignition module used for starting spark timing. Code you have is for the 24x crank sensor which would not cause any starting issues.... Would start without this input to the pcm. I have seen shorted cam sensors cause this condition. Would have to check the voltage feed to the 24x crank sensor back probed while cranking or running using negative battery terminal for meter ground. Would have to do some circuit checks for voltage feed and ground. Need labscop for signal but can check power and ground. Can check signal by bumping starter to see low and high on meter may take several times to see 5 volts then zero volts. Need dc meter and some tpins.

Thanks for the advice guys. If they all 3 sync together and work pretty close together, should I just replace both CKPs and Cam at once?
