2001 Dodge Ram 5.2L Engine P0442 and P0445 EVAP System Fault Diagnosis

Model: 2001 Ram Fault Code: P0442 Posted: 2017-11-15 12:21

My 2001 Dodge Ram with a 5.2L V8 engine is throwing diagnostic codes P0442 and P0445, both related to the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system. I've already replaced the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and had the transmission rebuilt, but these codes persist. Where is the EVAP system wiring harness located? What steps should I take to diagnose and fix this issue?

Codes P0442 and P0445 indicate an EVAP system leak. Start with a visual inspection of all hoses, connectors, and vapor lines. If no obvious leaks are found, use a smoke machine to pressurize the system and locate the source of the leak.

Thanks for the clarification — I'll start with a visual check and then consider using a smoke test if needed.
