2001 Lincoln LS Base 3.0L Model with P1572 Code After Brake Light Switch Replacement

Model: 2001 Lincoln LS Base 3.0L Fault Code: P1572 Posted: 2016-05-31 16:46

I recently encountered a P1572 diagnostic code on my 2001 Lincoln LS base model with a 3.0L engine. The brake light switch was replaced, but the code persists. All brake lights function properly and appear to be working correctly. I'm wondering if there could be another underlying issue or if the installation process might have caused the fault. Any insights or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.

Did you follow the manufacturer's installation instructions and complete the proper adjustment procedure after replacement? Even a minor misalignment can trigger the P1572 code.

The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop. I assume they followed standard procedures, but it's hard to know if they adhered to the correct guidelines for this specific issue.

I recommend returning to the service shop with a detailed troubleshooting guide and the official TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) 01-3-3. This bulletin includes updated part numbers, reflash procedures, and step-by-step installation/adjustment instructions. Also, ensure that an authorized Lincoln dealer performed the work—this may be critical for proper code clearing and system calibration.

I am not using a Lincoln dealership. I will schedule an appointment with one soon. My suspicion is that the repair was done incorrectly. I'll update this thread once the issue is resolved—thank you for the advice!
