2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L Misfire & Fault Codes P0202, P0352, P0443, P1492, P1499, P0523 - Diagnosis and Fixes

Model: 2001 Jeep Grand Fault Code: P0202 Posted: 2019-01-31 07:44

I own a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7L engine that is experiencing misfiring, rough idling, and significant power loss. Cylinder #2 is not firing, and despite replacing the CPC, fuel filter, fuel pump, cam position sensor, injectors, and spark plugs, the symptoms persist. The vehicle now displays multiple fault codes: P0202, P0352, P0443, P1492, P1499, and P0523 (note: P0443 appears twice). I'm seeking expert advice on how to properly diagnose and resolve these issues. Any insights or step-by-step troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

Shellaz - this issue should be addressed in a dedicated thread, as attaching it to an active post may cause confusion. Regarding the Jeep model: The term 'petrol' suggests you might not be in Kansas — this is likely a regional terminology difference. Let's focus on accurate diagnostics. - P0202: Indicates a fuel injector wiring issue. A noid light test can quickly verify if the injector is receiving signal. - P0352: Points to an ignition coil fault, specifically for cylinder #2 — this should be tested using a multimeter or dedicated ignition coil tester. - P0443: Suggests a purge valve circuit problem. Check the connector and fuse related to the evaporative emission system. - P1492: Ambient or battery temperature sensor voltage is too high — monitor readings with a scan tool; this code may be intermittent. - P1499: Indicates a hydraulic fan solenoid circuit fault — inspect the wiring harness and consult a wiring diagram for proper troubleshooting. - P0523: Oil pressure sensor voltage is excessively high — verify using a digital multimeter (DVOM) and cross-reference with OEM specifications. Why are all these codes appearing simultaneously? This could point to deeper electrical or sensor issues, possibly related to the ECU or power supply. A full system diagnostic may be required.
