2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L Engine P1391 Code: Misfire and Stalling Issues After IAC Replacement
My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7L engine is displaying fault code P1391. I recently replaced the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve and Position Control Sensor, cleared the codes, but the vehicle still misfires when accelerating. It spits, jerks, and seems to want to stall under load. Despite the sensor replacement, the issue persists. Could there be another underlying cause related to the P1391 code or other engine components?
P1391 indicates an intermittent loss of signal from either the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor or Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor. Check both sensors and their wiring harnesses for loose connections, corrosion, or damage. Intermittent symptoms like shaking, jerking, or stalling can be difficult to reproduce—try vibrating or wiggling the sensor wires to simulate engine vibrations and identify intermittent faults.
