getting lean codes both sides and getting misfires 2 cylinders 1 on each side what could possibly be wrong was told try gas filter

NOT SURE WHAT CODES YOU HAVE , BUT THESE CARS HAVE A LOT OF TSB ON THEM. I WOULD FIRST MAKE SURE YOU DON;T HAVE ANY VACUUM LEAKS,THEN CHECK SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES FOR ANY DAMAGE OR CRACKED PLUGS.

I would check fuel pressure too. If you've never had a top engine/injector cleaning service done that would be a good idea. Dirty injectors could be your problem.

Dirty MAF sensor wires will cause lean codes on both banks. Fords are touchy about the MAF readings.

Is it the 3.8? These engines have alot of issues with leaking intake seals and isolater bolts and vacuum lines. Also the egr passages will get clogged and cause a misfire just off idle.
