P0300 Random Cylinder Misfire and Trac Loc/ABS Service Light on 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier

Model: 2001 Cavalier Fault Code: P0300 Posted: 2010-09-11 09:55

I've been experiencing a persistent P0300 code indicating multiple random cylinder misfires on my 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.4L engine. I recently replaced the spark plugs, but the issue returned. Since my vehicle does not have plug wires, I'm unsure of the next diagnostic step. Additionally, about a week ago, the Service, ABS, and Trac Off warning lights all illuminated simultaneously. The car has accumulated 108,000 miles. Any insights into resolving both the misfire and the warning lights would be greatly appreciated.

Try replacing the coil pack—it may have an internal crack causing intermittent misfires. This is a common issue on older Cavalier models with high mileage.

After replacing the spark plugs, the code changed to P0301, indicating a misfire in cylinder #3 only. I'll replace the coil pack tomorrow and monitor the results. Thanks!
