2001 Audi S4 #6 Injector Circuit Open Misfire - Fuel Leak and Diagnostics

Model: 2001 Audi S4 Fault Code: P0216 Posted: 2014-04-26 18:52

Hello everyone, I'm dealing with a 2001 Audi S4 that's leaking fuel from the exhaust pipe. The OBD-II code reader shows a persistent 'Injector Circuit Open' fault for cylinder #6. I've already replaced the injectors, spark coils, and spark plugs. After clearing the codes multiple times, the issue returns consistently. I'm looking for expert advice on how to properly diagnose and fix this problem.

Check the wiring harness connected to injector #6—specifically the driver circuit, as it may be grounded incorrectly. As a precaution, also inspect the engine oil for signs of fuel contamination, which could indicate a leak or internal issue.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check the wiring connections on injector #6. Since I have a multimeter, can you recommend a step-by-step method to test continuity and grounding? Specifically, how should I verify that the wire going to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) isn't grounded or shorted?

two wires at inj connector - one is a common 12v - the other goes to the PCM, be sure the wire to PCM is NOT grounded ... OHM the inj be sure it is not internally Shorted to ground. Another idea would be to put a noid on injector- when cranking- does it flash? on steady? no flash or not on steady?

Thanks for the detailed guidance—I'll test both the wiring and use a noid today to check the injector pulse. This should help confirm whether the issue lies in the circuit or the injector itself.
