2001 Acura Integra GSR P0300 Code: Random Multiple Cylinder Misfire After Engine Rebuild

Model: 2001 Acura Integra GSR Fault Code: P0300 Posted: 2009-03-30 22:21

My 2001 Acura Integra GSR recently had the engine completely rebuilt, but I'm now experiencing a driving issue. The car starts smoothly, but when I shift into first gear and press the accelerator, it runs for a short distance before hesitating and then shutting off unexpectedly. I ran a diagnostic check using an OBD2 scanner and found the following trouble codes: - P0300: Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected - P0301: Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected - P0302: Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected - P0303: Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected - P0304: Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected All four cylinders are showing misfires, which suggests a widespread issue. Since the engine was recently rebuilt, I'm wondering what steps I should take first to diagnose and resolve this problem.

This is a common issue after an engine rebuild—please confirm if you've checked for exhaust leaks or foreign objects in the intake system. Also, did you rev the engine while in neutral? If it dies during that test, it could point to a vacuum leak or a misaligned component.

Did you rev the engine in neutral and does it die too? You mentioned the engine was rebuilt—did you place a rag over the exhaust manifold during reassembly? If not, a small animal might have gotten inside. Don’t forget to inspect the intake system for cracks or leaks. Try cranking the engine or having someone stand behind you while you rev it. The exhaust should produce normal sound and flow. If there's no sound or excessive backfiring, check for blockages or timing issues. These could be contributing factors.
