2000 VW Golf 4 2.0L Engine Codes P0300, P0301, P0302 and P1240 - RPM Stalls on Acceleration
Hi everyone, I'm having trouble with my 2000 VW Golf 4 (2.0L engine, 82,000 miles). The vehicle is throwing four diagnostic codes: P0300, P0301, P0302, and P1240. I've already replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, catalytic converter, fuel filter, and air filter — yet the issues persist. The main symptom is that when I press the gas pedal, the RPM doesn't increase properly; it stalls or hesitates. However, at idle, everything runs fine. I'm particularly confused about what the P1240 code means — does it relate to the fuel system or a sensor? Anyone who can explain this code or suggest further troubleshooting steps? Thanks in advance! Jon
I've posted a detailed explanation of the P1240 code in the correct technical forum — it relates to the fuel pressure regulator malfunction, which can cause inconsistent fuel delivery and lead to misfires. This might be contributing to your P0300/P0301/P0302 codes. Check for leaks or faulty regulators.
