2000 Pontiac Sunfire P0300, P0400, P0507 Fault Codes: Engine Shakes, Oil Leak and Starting Issues
I own a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire with a 2.2L L4 OHV 8-valve engine. Whenever I shift into Drive, the vehicle shuts off unexpectedly. Now, when attempting to start it, the engine violently shakes and won't crank properly—only starting after I stop turning the key. I've noticed a shiny goldish-brown oil trail on the ground, though no strong odor is present. When the car shuts off, both the oil and battery warning lights illuminate, and the check engine light flashes. I recently retrieved diagnostic codes: P0300 (random misfire), P0400 (exhaust pressure issue), and P0507 (fuel pump control circuit malfunction). The vehicle has been driven approximately 7,000 miles in just three months with no oil changes. Given these symptoms and the fault codes, I'm concerned about potential engine or fuel system failure. Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.
