2000 Mercury Villager P0325, P1148, P0135, P0302 Fault Codes Explained - 6-Cylinder Engine Misfire & Sensor Issues
Hi everyone, thanks for your help! I'm currently troubleshooting my 2000 Mercury Villager (3.3L 6-cylinder engine) which has a flashing Check Engine Light and several diagnostic trouble codes: P0325, P114
A flashing Check Engine Light is a serious issue as it may indicate potential catalytic converter damage — especially with code P0302. Is this vehicle equipped with the 3.3L engine? I'd recommend starting with a fuel pressure test, followed by a KOEO (Key On, Engine Off) leak-down test to check for a stuck-open injector. Cylinder #6 is a prime suspect here. Next, verify spark at cylinder #6 using a plug reader — this can help identify if there's an ignition issue. If no spark is detected, use a noid light to confirm the injector is pulsing. A compression test should follow. Note: Cylinder #6 is located on the front bank driver’s side in this 3.3L engine configuration.
