2000 Mercury Mountaineer P1507 Fault: Idle Air Control Valve Issue at Low Speeds

Model: 2000 Merc Mountaineer Fault Code: P1507 Posted: 2005-09-18 18:39

My 2000 Mercury Mountaineer is showing fault code P1507 and the engine idles too low, causing it to stall intermittently. Does anyone know how to diagnose or fix this issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check the voltage supply to the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. If power is present, begin by cleaning the IAC valve with a suitable cleaner. If the problem persists after cleaning, the IAC may need replacement. For detailed instructions specific to your model, refer to a repair manual such as: http://www.fordf150.net/store/repairmanuals.php

I replaced the IAC valve (cost: $57 at NAPA) and the issue is now fully resolved. The engine runs smoothly without stalling.

Thanks for sharing your solution—it's helpful to know that replacing the IAC fixed the problem for you.
