2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee P0340 Code: Diagnosis and Repair Guide for 4.0L and 4.7L Engines

Model: 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Fault Code: P0340 Posted: 2016-02-03 11:56

I'm looking for help understanding the P0340 diagnostic trouble code on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle has recently been serviced with only an oil change, and I'm not sure what this error means or how to fix it. Could someone clarify what the P0340 code indicates specifically for this model? I have a 4.0L or 4.7L engine — could you confirm which one applies based on the symptoms?

Which engine variant do you have? 4.0L or 4.7L? Any recent repairs or maintenance work performed? For detailed information, refer to OBD-II code P0340 at http://www.obd-codes.com/p034

Could you confirm the engine type? Is it a 4.0L or 4.7L model?

It's a 4.7L engine.

On the 4.7L, the Cam Position Sensor (CMP) is located on the right cylinder head, front side, just below the valve cover. First check the electrical connector for damage or loose connections. Was there any prior issue before service?

No, there were no previous issues reported.

Sorry, I meant it's a 4.0L engine.
