2000 Ford Taurus OBD2 Code P0340: Camshaft Position Sensor Issue After Replacement

Model: 2000 Ford Taurus Fault Code: P0340 Posted: 2015-03-26 13:53

I replaced the camshaft position sensor twice, but the P0340 code is still appearing. The vehicle continues to show this diagnostic trouble code even after the replacement. Any insight into why this might be happening or what else could be causing it? Thanks for any help.

Why did you replace the camshaft position sensor if the P0340 code is still present? The OBD2 code P0340 typically indicates a faulty component, such as a sensor or related wiring. For more details, refer to: http://www.obd-codes.com/p0340

Could 'component' here refer to something other than just the sensor itself? What about wiring, connectors, or engine control module issues?

Component refers to a smaller, self-contained part of a larger system. In this case, it could mean the camshaft position sensor or its associated circuitry. A CPU is a component in a computer—similarly, the camshaft sensor is a key component in engine management.
