2000 Ford E350 DTC P0566: Cruise Control 'OFF' Signal Issue Despite No Cruise Control System

Model: 2000 Ford E350 Fault Code: P0566 Posted: 2018-12-24 07:09

My 2000 Ford E350 Powerstroke 7.3 Diesel Van is failing smog due to a detected DTC P0566, which indicates a 'Cruise Control OFF' signal fault. Importantly, this van does not have a cruise control system installed. The SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) has been identified as the probable root cause. Inspection revealed that the SRS connector is damaged and stripped at the seat area. I am now looking for guidance on how to identify the wiring harness colors and layout in the column, particularly related to the SRS system, to properly diagnose and repair this issue.

My client's vehicle refuses to start after a software update—could there be an issue with the powertrain or ECU programming?

For my 2000 Ford E350 Powerstroke 7.3 Diesel Van, could the P0566 code be related to a clockspring or sliding contact at the steering wheel? Is the horn functioning properly? Are there any other SRS-related diagnostic codes present?

I'm planning to visit a local junkyard to inspect a similar 2000 Ford E350 Powerstroke 7.3 Diesel Van or truck and examine the SRS wiring harness, including wire color codes, for reference.
