I'm looking for clear, easy-to-understand advice about the P1757 diagnostic code on my 2000 Dodge Durango. In simple terms, what does this error mean? Is it something I can safely ignore, or is it a serious issue that could lead to transmission failure? Oops, and this is what it says about that code: P1757 (M) Governor Pressure Above 3 PSI In Gear With O MPH The Govenor Pressure greater than 3 psi when requested to be 0 psi. (4-speed auto. Trans. Only)

Thanks for sharing that detail! Based on the P1757 code description, this issue relates to transmission control. If left unaddressed, it can lead to severe damage in the transmission. I strongly recommend visiting a dealership or a reputable transmission specialist. This is not something a DIYer should attempt—especially if you're already self-identifying as having limited mechanical skills. Never ignore the check engine light; it's there to alert you that your vehicle needs attention, whether for safety or environmental reasons. Fixing issues early prevents further damage and reduces emissions.

Yeah it involves the transmission controls and if ignored will burn the tranny up! Get it to the dealer or a good transmission shop! It's not diy'er type work. If you're a self admitted mechanical moron then you're in over your head definetly with this one. Don't ignore it! For that matter don't ignore any check engine light! Get them fixed or learn how to fix them! It's meant to give you a heads up that your vehicle is requiring attention in a system and or is polluting! No reason you need to be doing more damage to it or polluting everyone's environment because of lack of knowledge!
