2000 Dodge Ram P0500-P0505-P1899: Speed Sensor Issues, No Overdrive, ABS and Brake Light On
I've replaced multiple sensors and components including the intake valve actuator (IAC), transmission relay, governor, and transmission speed sensor. Despite these repairs, the vehicle continues to show codes P0500, P0505, and P1899 — all indicating circuit malfunctions. After each repair, the same error codes reappear. I've thoroughly inspected body grounds, visible wiring harnesses, and all connections related to the transmission. The speed sensor has been replaced but the speedometer still doesn't work, and both ABS and brake lights remain illuminated. Symptoms include getting stuck in 2nd gear, no overdrive engagement, and failure to shift into drive or overdrive. The vehicle otherwise runs fine under normal conditions. I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this persistent issue. Any technical suggestions for diagnosing or resolving these codes would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there — can you confirm the exact diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) you're seeing? Specifically, P0500, P0505, and P1899. Also, what were the previous codes before these appeared? This helps identify patterns or recurring issues.
