2000 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L 318 Engine P0132 O2 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1 High Voltage Issue

Model: 2000 dodge ram 1500 5.2 318 Fault Code: P0132 Posted: 2013-12-22 12:02

My 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.2L 318 engine is throwing fault code P0132, indicating a high voltage issue on the oxygen sensor in bank 1, sensor 1. I recently replaced the O2 sensor for bank 1, sensor 1 to resolve an initial O2 1/1 malfunction, but after replacement, the vehicle now displays P0132. Additionally, it has been showing a persistent O2 1/2 code for some time. When the original O2 1/1 fault first appeared, it also triggered a 'verdrive' and torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid error — which disappeared after replacing the O2 sensor. I am now concerned about what could be causing this new high voltage reading on the oxygen sensor. The truck has undergone minor modifications including removal of the catalytic converter. Could this modification be contributing to the issue? Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

Modifications can lead to unexpected issues. Always remember that a diagnostic code does not automatically mean you should replace a part — it's essential to understand the underlying cause by reviewing relevant technical resources. Using OEM-quality oxygen sensors is strongly recommended for reliability. Additionally, removing the catalytic converter is both technically problematic and illegal under emissions regulations.
