2000 Buick LaSabre P0101 Code: Intermittent Engine Death at Highway Speeds
My 2000 Buick LaSabre 3.8L engine ran smoothly until about a month ago, when it began dying unexpectedly while driving on the interstate. The OBD2 diagnostic tool detected a P0101 code (Mass Airflow Sensor Range/Performance Problem). A new MAF sensor and air filter were installed, along with a new fuel pump and fuel filter. Despite these repairs, the car runs fine in town but consistently dies at highway speeds—specifically on interstates—and only during intermittent episodes. The engine starts normally but immediately shuts off after the P0100 code appears. This has occurred six times now. I've also replaced transmission cooler lines and struts prior to this issue. After clearing the code, the car runs well until the next incident. The problem is strictly triggered at highway speeds. Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated?

Intermittent P0101 issues can stem from: - Mis-routed wiring harness - Wire insulation rubbed through - Broken wire inside the insulation Unmetered air entering the engine may trigger this code. Check for: - Engine vacuum leaks - PCV system vacuum leaks - Incorrect or faulty PCV valve - Engine oil dipstick not fully seated
