1999 S70 Volvo, Service Comunication link failure

Model: 1999 S70 Volvo Fault Code: P2186 Posted: 2006-08-15 04:24

I don't know what the code number is but this is what the explanation of it was. Any ideas what to do to fix? Or what is causing the fault. Thanks, Mark

I don't think the scanner or code reader is communicating through the port! Try another scan tool or reader and check for a blown fuse that might be powering up the scan tool connector

This is my daughters car who is across the country from me. Her check engine light came on and I told her to go to Auto Zone to have them use the scan tool to find out what the code is and also clear the light. They did, and it came up with a number which she didn't remember to write down. However, she did write down what the code error explanation. "Service comunication link failure." After it was cleared the next day the check engine light came back on.
