1999 Mercedes E300 Error Codes P0243 and P0100: Mass Air Flow Sensor Fix and Diagnosis

I own a 1999 Mercedes-Benz E300. Recently, the vehicle triggered error code P0243, which indicates a problem with the fuel pressure regulator or intake system. A suggested fix was to remove the mass air flow (MAF) sensor, clean it using a dedicated MAF cleaner, and then reinstall it. I followed this procedure, but after reinstallation, a new error code appeared: P0100, indicating an issue with the mass airflow sensor signal. Despite cleaning the sensor, the fault persists. Can anyone provide insight into what might be causing both P0243 and P0100? Is there a deeper system issue or a need for further diagnostics such as checking the MAF sensor wiring or intake ducts?
