I have replaced all ignition coils and spark plugs, yet I still experience a misfire on cylinder #8. The vehicle is a 1999 Ford F-250, and the diagnostic trouble code P0358 has been detected. Despite these replacements, the issue persists. What could be causing this ongoing misfire?

Misfires can often stem from factors beyond just replacement parts. 1) Is there spark at the plug? 2) Is the fuel injector pulsing and spraying fuel? 3) Is compression adequate in cylinder #8? 4) Are there any vacuum leaks? Are there any additional diagnostic trouble codes present? These checks are essential to isolate the root cause.

I just noticed that P0358 was actually in the title — my bad! Let's focus on cylinder #8, which is located on the driver's side rear. Ensure the connector to the ignition coil is securely attached. The connectors are available as separate parts with a small wire lead. Verify that there is 12 volts at the coil when performing a key-on engine-off (KOEO) test.
