1999 Ford Explorer Code P1747: Causes and Symptoms When Engine Stalls in Gear

Model: 1999 Ford Explorer Fault Code: P1747 Posted: 2006-10-29 00:19

I'm experiencing a diagnostic code P1747 on my 1999 Ford Explorer. The engine starts fine, but when I shift into gear and press the accelerator, it stalls. What could be causing this code? Is it directly related to the stalling issue? The code P1747 refers to an Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) solenoid fault. Possible causes include a faulty EPC solenoid, damaged wiring harness or connector, or issues with the transmission control module. Are there any other diagnostic trouble codes present?

What size engine do you have? Have you noticed any shifting problems in the transmission? Code P1740 (corrected to P1747) relates to the Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) solenoid. A failing solenoid or a broken connector could be responsible. Please check if there are any additional diagnostic codes stored in the system.

Hi Rodney. I'm having a similar issue on my 2000 Ford Explorer. Did you manage to identify the root cause? What was the solution? Thanks for your help!
