1999 Dodge Durango 5.2L Engine Misfires: P0300, P0302, P0304 Codes at 150,000 Miles
The vehicle idles slightly rough but runs smoothly under normal conditions. I reset the engine codes and drove it for a full week without any issues. However, yesterday after driving on the highway all day, the P0304 code returned. The car has reached 150,000 miles and was purchased used. Since the misfire codes appeared just two days after purchase, I suspect an underlying issue. I recently replaced the spark plugs and ignition wires and discovered a minor vacuum leak in the PCV hose. After addressing this leak and starting the engine, the check engine light has gone off. The problem appears to be resolved, but I'm seeking confirmation on whether this is a common cause for P0300/P0302/P0304 codes in 1999 Durango 5.2L engines.
Have you performed a spark plug and ignition system tune-up? A worn or faulty component could be contributing to the misfires.
