1998 windstar 3.0 fuel problem p0453

Model: 1998 Windstar Fault Code: P0453 Posted: 2014-04-14 10:29

We put a new fuel pump in our 1998 Ford Windstar van and now we are having a stalling problem. The showed p0453 for the problem, which is called the pressure sensor high input. Where is this located on the van??? We have been having problems with a strong smell of gas on occasion also. But can't find the location of this sensor.

pressure sensor is on top of the fuel tank- - likely something related to your pump replacement - sensor may be part of pump module.

this code will not cause stalling.how often do you smell gas?did you smell gas before pump replacement?do you know if this code was stored in computer before pump replacement?fuel pressure would be nice to know.

We never smelled gas before we replaced the fuel pump the first time, but after the initial change and the second change, we smelled the gas. Can't tell you the fuel pressure, but now if the vehicle stalls, it's because it's at a very low rev. After sitting for a little while, it will start again, and I have on occasion put it into neutral (on the highway) and it fired up for me.

your saying it wont start until you let it set awile unless shifted into neutral?

No, what I meant was that when I was driving and it stalled, I shifted into neutral while I was still moving on the highway and turned it over and it started.
