1997 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 Backfiring and P0100 MAF Circuit Failure Code
I own a 1997 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 with the 350ci LT1 engine. The vehicle is experiencing backfiring and has triggered a P0100 fault code indicating a Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor circuit failure. My primary concern is the low-RPM backfiring. I've recently replaced the headers, spark plugs, and ignition wires. While I suspect these modifications may have contributed, I'm wondering if my firing order could be incorrect — or if there's another underlying issue. Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.
The distributor timing is critical and must be properly set; incorrect timing can cause backfiring, especially at low RPMs.
