1997 Mercedes-Benz E300 Fault Codes P1615, P1630, P1520, B1755 - Diagnosis & Solutions
I recently purchased a 1997 Mercedes-Benz E300 and have been encountering several diagnostic trouble codes: P1615, P1630, P1520, B1755, as well as additional codes including 1404, 1040, 1041, 1045, 1754, and 1755. I'm looking for guidance on how to interpret these codes and what steps to take next. The vehicle exhibits hesitation at low RPMs—especially in parking lots when slow acceleration is needed—and sometimes the accelerator does not respond until a significant pedal input is applied. After that, the car accelerates suddenly. This behavior occurs primarily during the first third of the throttle行程. When I apply full throttle, the engine responds smoothly. I've already replaced the diesel filter upon receiving the vehicle, but the 'Check Engine' light remains on. A local mechanic has been unable to identify the root cause. I'm seeking advice on possible underlying issues and recommendations for reputable Mercedes-Benz diesel repair shops in the Dallas area.
Mercedes-Benz vehicles, like some BMW models, may trigger diagnostic codes when battery voltage is low. Try clearing all stored codes using a scan tool and then drive the vehicle for at least 5 miles under normal conditions. Afterward, reconnect the scanner to check for any new or recurring codes. This helps determine if the issue is related to electrical systems or mechanical faults.
