1997 GMC Suburban 5.7L Engine Fault Codes P0153, P0154, and P1153 Explained

Model: 1997 GMC Suburban Fault Code: P0153 Posted: 2012-04-04 18:09

After replacing the distributor, crankshaft sensor, and camshaft sensor on my 1997 GMC Suburban with a 5.7L engine, I'm still encountering recurring fault codes P0153, P0154, and P1153. Can someone clarify what these O2 sensor codes mean? Specifically, which oxygen sensor is affected by each code, and what does the P1153 fault code indicate? Any reliable technical manuals or resources for this model year would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, 602 Fitter.

All three codes—P0153, P0154, and P1153—are related to O2 Sensor Bank 2, Sensor 1. This sensor is located in or near the exhaust manifold on the passenger side of the vehicle. It's recommended to obtain this part directly from an authorized dealer rather than using aftermarket alternatives to ensure compatibility and proper function.
