P0335 Diagnostic Guide for 1997 Ford Aspire 1.3L with Automatic Transmission

Model: 1997 Ford Aspire Fault Code: P0335 Posted: 2012-07-15 21:08

I own a 1997 Ford Aspire 1.3L with an automatic transmission and am currently experiencing the P0335 diagnostic trouble code. I've already replaced the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor, but the error persists. Could there be other potential causes? Note: In this model, the CKP sensor is only used for misfire detection, not engine timing, due to the presence of a distributor. I inspected the area where the CKP sensor is located and suspect it may not be properly grounded—though I'm not entirely certain. Additionally, I'd like to know what voltage range should be supplied to the CKP sensor for proper operation in order to turn off the check engine light. Any technical guidance or troubleshooting steps specific to this make, model, and year would be greatly appreciated.

I've reviewed that link, but are the listed potential causes specific to my 1997 Ford Aspire 1.3L or general across all vehicle makes and models? Is the P0335 code troubleshooting information applicable universally, or does it vary by engine design?

All vehicles share basic OBD-II diagnostic principles—what makes your Ford Aspire different? Could you confirm whether your replacement CKP sensor was purchased from the dealership or an aftermarket brand?
