1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee P0711 P0743 P0748 P0753 P0133 - Check Engine Light On, Transmission & O2 Sensor Codes

Model: 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Fault Code: P0133 Posted: 2009-01-18 15:16

My 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Loredo 8-cylinder) recently triggered the check engine light. After taking it to Auto Zone for diagnostics, I received the following trouble codes: P0711, P0743, P0748, P0753, and P0139. I'm wondering if Auto Zone's diagnostic testing is reliable—do they actually perform accurate readings or just retrieve stored codes? The vehicle doesn't show any noticeable performance issues. Can anyone provide an estimate of the potential repair costs for these codes? Thanks for your insights.

AutoZone does not perform actual diagnostics—they only retrieve stored fault codes from the ECU. You have four transmission-related codes (P0711, P0743, P0748, P0753) and one oxygen sensor code (P0133). I recommend clearing all codes and driving the vehicle under normal conditions to see if any return. This can help determine whether the issues are intermittent or persistent.
