1996 Ford F-150 P1443 Error Code: EVAP System Diagnosis and Component Locations

Model: 1996 F-150 Fault Code: P1443 Posted: 2007-05-03 19:33

I own a 1996 Ford F-150 work truck with a 3.0L inline-six engine, and the check engine light is currently on. The diagnostic tool has returned error code P1443, which relates to the EVAP (Evaporative Emission Control) system. I've reviewed the short description and possible causes provided by the scanner, but I'm still unsure about the exact locations of key components. Specifically, where is the EVAP pressure sensor located? Where is the hose that connects the purge valve to the FTP (Fuel Tank Pressure) sensor? And where can I find the EVAP purge valve itself? I believe I can repair these issues once I know their positions, so any detailed guidance or diagrams would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Refer to the vacuum system schematic under the hood of your 1996 Ford F-150, which is typically found in the owner's manual or service sections. Reliable resources include AllData, Chilton, or Haynes repair manuals for detailed diagrams and step-by-step guidance on locating the EVAP pressure sensor, purge valve, and associated hoses.
