My 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan has been running perfectly until one night when it suddenly failed to start. The engine turns over normally, but does not ignite or produce any visible signs of fuel — no smell of gas is detected even after repeatedly pressing the accelerator pedal. This suggests that fuel may not be reaching the combustion chamber. After performing an OBD-II scan, I confirmed the presence of code P0443: 'Evaporative Emissions Control System Purge Valve Circuit Fault'. To troubleshoot, try spraying carburetor cleaner into the throttle body — if the engine starts or stalls briefly, it may indicate an issue with the intake system or idle control. Additionally, check for spark using a spark tester. When you turn the key to 'ON' (not start), listen carefully — the fuel pump should run for about 2 seconds. If it doesn't, that could point to a fuel pump issue. Try holding the gas pedal all the way down while cranking the engine — this may help initiate starting if the idle or fuel delivery is unstable.
